Saying Goodbye to 2017

2017 was a weird year. I struggled a lot while also finding ways to better myself, and take care of myself mentally. I experienced my first loss of a family member, my Grampa. That was the very beginning of the year, and around that same time I met my boyfriend, experiencing a love I've never felt before.
2017 was the year of editing, reevaluating, and thinking in regards to my writings, my life and who I let in, and how to better myself in the midst of anxiety or depression. I changed my environment (which at this point is just my bedroom) by keeping it cleaner and redecorating it a little. I watched toxic people leave, and will continue to cut ties with anyone else who does nothing but bring my atmosphere down. I will work harder on my poetry and my novels, but making a good dent in them and sending them out to publishers, no later than February.
2017 was not necessarily the best year of my life, and it was not the worst. If anything, the "bad" parts of it really prepared me for 2018, where I will work harder on being happy and only surround myself with positivity.
School wise, I got straight As for midterms and finals, for the first time in my whole life! I love being an English Major because I'm actually good at it, LOL. I'm also working towards a Psychology Minor, I hope my classes for this coming semester treat me well *fingers crossed*.
Despite this being a year for review and learning, I did, however, start to write more and I read more. I expanded plots and notes for my fantasy series, but have not constructed the actual books yet. That is what 2018 will be for!
My goals for 2018 are: to read AT LEAST 30 books (I will be using goodreads to help track my progress). As previously said above I want to send out my writings to publishers by February, specifically the first five chapters of the first book in my series as well as some poetry. I want to be as creative as I can, and try to write as much as I can every week, or edit. I want to drink more water. I want to focus more on my mental health, which includes a better sleeping schedule so I'm not tired all the time, I want to make sure I set a time/daily goal for homework so I don't stress myself out too much - and will leave myself extra time for reading and writing. Along with mental health I want to focus on physical health too, overall I just want to be healthier.

I hope you all had a wonderful 2017, even though this was a tough year for many. I hope your 2018 will be the year for rebirth, happiness, and we can collectively get our shit together! LOL.

Happy New Year to you all!

(My next post should be coming within the next few days and will be a recap of my favorites from December/all of 2017).
